MCRE is a grassroots, community-based group of West Virginia citizens opposing the proposed construction of the Beech Ridge Wind Project by Invenergy LLC of Chicago. Click here for proposal details

The Chicago Company wishes to clear-cut and grade off twenty-three miles of the county’s tallest landmark ridges and build roads that would allow them to install 124 forty story tall industrial wind turbines that would capture diffuse wind energy and convert it to electricity for export to the eastern US cities hundreds of miles away. We strive to strike a balance between the development of alternative energy resources and the rights of communities to retain their cultural identity and maintain a peaceful existence. We are quite certain the continued grown and prosperity of our long established communities will be negatively affected by such drastic industrialization.

Therefore, since 2005, representing thousands of Greenbrier County citizens, MCRE has engaged in a legal struggle against misinformation and misguided political agendas in an effort to prevent construction of such a huge project. Click here for timeline of actions.

Evidence that the Wind Industry has vastly overstated the benefits and underplayed the very real detriments to human health, wildlife, and forest ecosystems continues to mount every day. Independent research on this site and many other sites will bear that out.

MCRE invites you to review these studies and support our mission to save Greenbrier County from yet another out-of-state corporation’s scheme to profit from the mountains.
