Mountain Communities for Responsible Energy is a nonprofit organization formed in September of 2005 to assess and disclose the impacts of a proposed wind energy facility in Greenbrier County. The group is conducting educational outreach programs and is working with local, state, and federal entities to promote public awareness and address unresolved issues concerning wind energy facilities in Greenbrier County.
MCRE goals include:
- The promotion of clean, affordable energy that is responsibly developed
- The compilation and assessment of information regarding the environmental and economic impacts of energy projects in Greenbrier County
- The exploration of un addressed problems with wind energy
- The promotion of conservation programs and practices in our region
